In recent years I have worked in the genre of small plastics, practised with anthropomorphic forms, experimented with casting techniques and textures. A-Gallery has been a good and interesting place for observing everyday life and exposition of jewellery items. – In the book “A-Gallery. Estonian art jewellery gallery for 20 years” (2014)

My jewellery creations are like tiny sculptures that you can carry along with you. The technique is assemblage, assembled from pieces. I try to find a shape that consists of small pieces and motifs. The jewellery is made as if onto a frame, connected pieces of wax, certain copies, found objects, and then cast into one piece. It’s possible to search for all kinds of references, but the piece is usually born during the working process. As with a drawing, it continues to grow by itself.” – Andrei Balašov at the A-Gallery exhibition MEMORY CARDS (2019)
