From my childhood I remember a necklace made of yellow waterlily. It was so special, beautiful, fragrant, perfect. I try to catch this experience, I admire details of nature, combinations of materials and colour, rhythms, simplicity. Time and possibilities change, so do I.- In the book “A-Gallery. Estonian art jewellery gallery for 20 years” (2014)

“I found this stone at the Merivälja “Dog Beach”. Its surface had been worn by the sea, sand and other stones. I cut the silhouette. At first it was just a half-arc, whose shape was due to the original shape of the stone. When I hung it from a ribbon, I thought it was a new moon, but the new moon is not dark! This is the half of the moon, onto which the Earth’s shadow falls. I named it the THE HIDDEN SIDE OF THE MOON.

I’ve been “weaving” this kind of ribbon for twenty years and it’s a very calming activity.” – Mari Pärtelpoeg at the A-Gallery exhibition MEMORY CARDS (2019)
