Keesi Kapsta (b. 1969 in Kuressaare)

I have graduated from the speciality of computer graphics; I studied jewellery from my mother, Aino Kapsta. Since 2012 I have been a member of The Estonian Association of Jewellery and Blacksmiths and since 2013 a member of the Artists’ Association.
My favourite jewellery materials are silver and semi-precious stones or beach stones brought along from some trip, and my favourite technique is melting. I often use natural motives or signs and symbols in my jewellery, for support and protection. It is wonderful to make a unique jewellery item and see delight in the eyes of people, when a connection emerges between the item and the wearer.- In the book “A-Gallery. “I’ve always creating using melting technique, but perhaps jewellery has become more fragile and delicate, perhaps somewhat more precise. Everything I start is unique and special. I’m very chaotic; two similar things are never made. I invent patterns and use symbols. The octagram and sun cross are old favourites, various runic symbols and protective symbols as well. Sometimes I hide them so that only the wearer knows they’re inside. I like it if the sign doesn’t stand out immediately. My jewellery most definitely also carries sentiments from my travels.
