Elis Liivo (b. 1990, Hiiumaa) is a jewellery artist whose work stems from self-observation and a desire to explore the depth of human existence through time. Her path to jewellery art has evolved through both rational and irrational choices \u2014 as an inner need to create and to make sense of life through material form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liivo\u2019s work can be described as a search rooted in the depths of the psyche and the soul, where emotions, experiences, and concepts intertwine into tangible jewellery objects. She is fascinated by what lies hidden within the human being \u2014 the invisible forces that drive us to act irrationally, emotionally, and profoundly humanly. For her, art is a means of expressing oneself sincerely and without disguise. What emerges is not always beautiful, but it is always true \u2014 an inner compass in the search for meaning and self-understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her artistic practice is based on the conviction that without understanding our past, we cannot create the future we desire. Through her jewellery, she seeks a connection with her ancestors, exploring how their beliefs and experiences resonate within us today. Although her artistic journey began with a focus on metal, she is increasingly interested in the interplay of materials \u2014 combining metal with hair, textiles, and other organic elements to reveal new layers of meaning and emotional resonance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liivo\u2019s work reflects her changing nature: it shifts between delicate and rough, vulnerable and powerful. Each piece is a quiet and honest dialogue with herself \u2014 an attempt to map the inner landscape and to find connection with the cyclical nature of life and humanity\u2019s place within it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
