BODY GLOW II

Katarina Kotselainen, Kalle Kotselainen 07.10–01.11.2022

BODY GLOW II is an exhibition exploring the relationship between the body and jewellery with the wearer and the viewer. Body glow is something that is physically close to the wearer, but also what they want to convey to others around them. One person may use jewellery to attract, using its gentle nature to invite you to approach and take a closer look. Another may use its thorny nature to repel instead.

The exhibition is inspired by shibari (the art of Japanese rope bondage) and antique masks.

Artists Katarina and Kalle Kotselainen have chosen suitable mediums for them; forging, embossing, enamel and filigree.

Katarina Kotselainen has studied at the Estonian Academy of Arts in the jewellery and blacksmithing department and has participated in exhibitions around the world since 2001. Her works are in private collections in Estonia, Finland and the USA. She is a member of the Estonian Artists Association since 2008.

Kalle Kotselainen has been designing and making jewellery from precious metals for over ten years. He graduated from Vana-Vigala TTK in 2019, specialising in Blacksmithing. His works are in the Kalevipoja Museum in Kääpa and in the Saatse Seto Museum. He is also the founder of Tuletuul OÜ.

The exhibition is supperted by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
